Haag Cactus Garden

Dedicated in May 1965, this unique garden is named in honor of “Cactus” John Haag, (founder of the Tucson Cactus & Succulent Society) and is home to 138 species of cacti, including some from his personal collection and several rare and endangered species.

Laurel Clark Education Fund

Dr. Laurel Clark, a captain in the U.S. Navy and a naval flight surgeon, was one of seven astronauts who were tragically lost on Saturday, February 1st, 2003, when the space shuttle Columbia broke apart upon entering the Earth's atmosphere. She had been a long-time enthusiast of the Desert Museum and would always attend when visiting her parents in Arizona. Proceeds from this endowment will support Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum educational programs on an annual basis.

Woven Words Poetry Project

Woven Words is an exciting new collaboration that pairs two Tucson cultural institutions: the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and the University of Arizona Poetry Center. The project will feature 30 poetry installations throughout the Museum grounds, each underscoring the profound relationship between knowledge, the imagination, and an ethos of conservation.
